Portraits capture people at a given moment in time. These moments should invoke an emotion, a special feeling that relates to the person. This emotion should be evident even 20 years afterward. I only do portraits in natural settings that relate to the person. Of course, this requires more time and work on my part, but in the end you have a better image on your wall of this special person.
Want to capture your reflective side? Sometimes a great portrait of one's self includes the environment with which you are most familiar. Pezography captures this side of you through careful selection of surroundings.
Capturing some people at thier best means getting personal and doing a little traveling. This young man, with a deep sense of service, couldn't be better captured than in his cub scout uniform sitting in the back of a US Army Hummer. Notice the camo stripe effect of the shadowing on his face.
Some people naturally warm up to the camera; but, for the rest of us there is help. Nothing makes a person comfortable like familiar settings. I take the time to learn the person and what setting invokes that feel of comfort. Then watch the fireworks sparkle in their face.

Black and white is a great way to bring out the details of a photo and create a classic look. Close-ups and macro portraits are a great way to express the detail that truly makes the person who they are.
